I went to New York for my first time over the Labor Day week end. I left Brandon and my kids at home and met my mom and my sister there. I'll be honest and say it was real nice not to have to worry about anyone but myself for four days. It was a little weird to be traveling by myself but it was definitely a much needed vacation from the duties of motherhood.
During my mom and dad's last visit to Phoenix they were talking about their recent trip to New York. I have been wanting to go to New York for a while and jokingly I suggested that they take me for my 30th birthday. They thought that was a great idea. I was so excited! (However, I'm not really 30 til October.)
New York is an amazing city. As I saw people going to work, mothers or nannies with kids and strollers, people running in Central park or over the Brooklyn Bridge I couldn't help think about how different life would be living in a city like this. Seeing the place in pictures or on TV in nothing like seeing it in person. Tall building after tall building after tall building... it is incredible!
We were there for four days and stayed busy the whole time. After the first day our legs were so sore and my poor mom got a quarter size blister on the ball of her foot but that didn't stop us. My mom was a trooper. It wasn't until the last day that my legs didn't hurt any more. We did A LOT of exploring and sightseeing, ate great food, went shopping, saw a Broadway show, and went on a bike ride through Central Park. It was a great trip and I can't wait to go back! Please bear with me as I posted a lot of pics.

Can you find me and my mom?
Our trip actually fell over my mom's birthday. We treated her to dinner at Serendipity. The frozen hot chocolate was so good we had to order a second. The waiter brought it out with a candle and the whole restaurant sang her happy birthday.

You are so stylin' Megs, you fit right in in New York. It looks amazing! We are thinking of going there for our 10 yr anniversary next year. And wow, you are going to be really old in October. Glad you had an awesome experience to celebrate!
I assure you, the women pushing strollers were nannies...
Next year, come back to New York and visit ME in New Haven! Girl's Trip #2!
We really should plan a trip to NYC with our high school friends, don't you think?
That looks like so much fun. I want to go to NY. Perhaps one day.

I found you the crowded picture. Looks like a great time. I would love something like that without Darren...he just don't like all the New York kind of stuff I'd like.

How lucky for you! What a great trip! And look who has a sweater on - amazing. That seems so weird right now. I am loving your Broadway show dress!
