First Day of School

Monday was Porter's first day at Kindergarten and Tyler's first day of preschool. They were so excited. I woke up to both of them at my bedside saying, "Do you know what today is, Mom?."

For Porter, 8:20 (the time we needed to start off to school) could not come fast enough. He had his backpack on and lunch in hand 30 minutes before we had to leave. We live close to the school, so we walk. I thought walking would be great until I went to pick him up and returned home drenched in my own sweat. I tried driving the next day but the parking lot is a joke, and somehow in the end, I was again, drenched in sweat when we got home. So walking it is. I guess I'll be taking a shower everyday after school until the weather cools off.

Tyler is a funny little guy. He was so excited for his first day of preschool but he suddenly got shy and clingy when I tried to leave him. He ended up having a great time. His teacher said that he loved playing with a toy vacuum they have in the room. He was vacuuming when I picked him up and I had a hard time getting him to stop. If only they made real vacuums that size. He could vacuum our house to his heart's content.

I am so excited for these two. They have been looking forward to kindergarten and preschool all summer long. I think Porter told just about everyone he met that he would be going to kindergarten this year. It's crazy how time flies. I can't believe it's here. The summer break seemed so short, but it was a fun one . It's weird having both Porter and Tyler in school now. The house is so much quieter when they're gone. I guess I should find a hobby or maybe read more.

Weird, isn't it? I'm glad it went well! And I hear you in the "drenched in your own sweat" part. We're trying to figure out the best method of pick up too!

Gavin is starting preschool this year and I am already thinking about how strange it will be with him gone. I can't imagine having two kids gone. Boy, Blake is going to rule the house now.

What cute, big boys!! It is crazy having the house be so quiet...but don't you think we deserve it! :) Ha ha! Glad to hear your kids' first days went well.

I have the same walking to school problem - we are way too close to drive, it makes more sense to try to not fight the parking lot. But I am disgusting when I get home!! October can't get here soon enough.

I can't believe how fast time goes and that Porter is already in Kindergarten. I can't even imagine Addi being old enough to do that. It's going to be nice for you to have a quiet house......
